(4) Extinct volcanoes are those that scientists consider unlikely to erupt again, because the volcano no longer has a lava supply. An extinct volcano has not had an eruption for at least 10,000 years and is not expected to erupt again in a comparable time scale of the future. Mount Buninyong in Australia, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania and Chimborazo in Ecuador are some of the examples of extinct volcanoes.
