In a 500 metre race, the ratio of speeds of two runners P and Q is 3 : 5. If P gets a start of 200 metres, then the distance between P and Q at the end of the race is

P wins by 100 metres
Both finish at the same time
Q wins by 100 metres
Q wins by 50 metres

Solution:

(2) Time taken by P to cover 300m will be.

300/3

= 100 sec.
Distance covered by Q in 100 sec will be 5 x 100 = 500 m . Hence, both P and Q will finish at the same time.
