(4) Gilles Simon of France has won the Tata Open Maharashtra Tennis trophy. It was held at Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on January 6, 2018. In the summit clash, Simon humbled Kevin Anderson in straight sets 7-6, 6-2. Their world rankings are 89 and 14 respectively. The tournament is India’s only ATP event. The tournament was inaugurated in New Delhi in 1996, and Chennai hosted it for the next 21 years. This time, the event was hosted by the tier two city Pune and was renamed Tata Open Maharashtra.
