Mendeleev proposed a Periodic Law in 1869 in which he examined therelationship between atomic masses of the elements and their chemical and physical properties. According to the law, the properties of the elements are periodic functions of their atomic numbers, i.e., the elements recur periodically when the elements are arranged in the order of their atomic weights.
