The Salt March, also known as the Dandi March, was an act of non-violent civil disobedience in colonial India, led by Gandhiji.
Gandhiji led the Dandi March from his base, Sabarmati Ashram, near the city of Ahmedabad. Seventyeight people participated in the march with Gandhiji and envisioned to walk 240 miles (390 km) to the coastal village of Dandi in Gujarat.
The 24-day march started from 12th March, 1930 and continued till 6th April, 1930.
