Ram can complete a job alone in 24 days but Sunil would take thrice the time to do it alone. They start the work together but Ram has to leave eight days before the completion of the work. What is the total number of days that it takes sunil to eventually complete the rest of work?

Solution:

Time taken by Ram to complete the job alone = 24 days.
∴ time taken by Sunil to complete the job alone = 72 days
(Ram + Sunil)’s 1 day’s work=

1/{24}+1/{72}

=4/{72}=1/{18}

Work done together in 10 days

={10}/{18}

Remaining work

=`1-{10}/{18}=8/{18}

So, Sunil complete the remaining work in

=8/{18}×72=32

days
