Barometer is an instrument used for measuring atmospheric pressure. Barometers are used for determining height above the sea level and in forecasting the weather. The two primary types of barometers are the aneroid and the mercury barometer. If the reading is going down very fast, then it indicates storm (within 5–6 hours)otherwise a slow downfall of the reading suggests that a low pressure area is passing in a nearby region and may rain.
