At all other positions between the maximum height and just before hitting the ground, the total energy will be the sum of the potential and kinetic energy of the body. Just before reaching the ground, the body has a kinetic energy. However, the total energy of the body at any instant is the same which is also equal to the potential energy at the maximum height.
