Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated annually on 9 January by the Republic of India to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of the country. The 11th Pravasi Bhartiya Divas 2013 was held from January 7 to 9. This was the first time the event was held in Kerala, home to a majority of overseas Indians living in the Gulf.
