Solution:

(a) Let the number be x.
∴

{ x }/ { 7 } - { x }/ { 11 } = 100

⇒

{ 11 x - 7 x }/ { 11 × 7 } = 100

x = 77 × 100
⇒ x =

{77×100}/4

= 1925
