(d) Let the capacity of the drum be x litres.
∴

{ 3 x }/ { 4 } - 30 = { 7 x } /{ 12 }

⇒

{ 3 x }/ { 4 } - { 7 x }/ { 12 } = 30

⇒

{ 9 x - 7 x }/ { 12 } = 30

⇒

{ x }/ { 6 } = 30

⇒ x = 6 × 30 = 180 litres
