In a mixture of 35 litres, the ratio of milk and water is 5 : 2. Another 5 litres of milk is added to the mixture. The ratio of milk and water in the new mixture is—

Solution:

Milk in 35 litres of mixture
= 35 ×

= 25 litres
Water in the original mixture
= 35 – 25 = 10 litres
Milk in new mixture = 25 + 5 = 30 litres
and water in new mixture = 10 litres
∴ Ratio of milk and water in new mixture
=

30/10=3/1
