Solution:
The Tebhaga movement took place in Bengal around 1946-47.
- It was a struggle of sharecroppers to retain two-thirds of the produce for themselves and paying only one third as rent to the landholders.
- Earlier, the landlords used to collect half the share of the produce from the tenants.
- The landlords refused to accept the demands of the tenants initially and called the police.
- The police arrested the tenants and many of them were put behind the bars.
- But later on, as the revolt grew, the sharecropping peasants were granted the Tebhaga right by many if the landowners themselves.
