If x cos 60° + y cos 0° = 3, then what is the value of x?

Solution:

Given,
x cos 60° + y cos 0° = 3

⇒x/2+y=3

⇒x+2y=6

.......(i)
and

4x\sin30°-y\cot 45°=2

⇒4x×1/2-y×1=2

⇒2x-y=2

.....(ii)
On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get

x=y=2
