Solution:

Given that x + y = 90°

(1+{\tan x}/{\tan y} )\sin^2y

=(1+{\tan (90°-y)}/{\tan y} )\sin^2y

=(1+{\cos^2y}/{\sin^2y})\sin^2y

=\sin^2y+\cos^2y=1
