Solution:

The mean of 100 values is 45.
Total of 100 values = 45 × 100 = 4,500
5 is added to the first forty values.
So, 15 × 40 = 600
5 subtracted from each of the remaining sixty values = 5 × 60 = 300
So, the new values = 4,500 + 600 - 300 = 4,800
New mean

=4800/100=48
