A light was seen at intervals of 13 seconds. It was seen for the first time at 1 hr. 54 minutes 50 seconds am. and the last time at 3 hrs 17 minutes 49 seconds am. How many times was the light seen?

Solution:

(3 hrs. 17 min. 49 sec) - (1 hr. 54 min. 50 sec) = (1 hr. 22 min. 59 sec)
Time interval = 1 hr. 22 min. 59 sec = (3600 + 1320 + 59) sec = 4979 sec
Hence, the number of times light is seen

= 4979/13+1

= 383 + 1 = 384
