A borrowed a sum of Rs 1,776 into two parts, one at 8% and the other at 7%. If the total annual income is Rs 135, find the money she borrowed at each rate.

Validate

Solution:

Let the sum borrowed at 8% be Rs x and that at 7% be Rs (1,776 - x).

∴({x×8×1}/100)+({(1776-x)×7×1}/100)=135

1/100(8x+12432-7x)=135

12432+x=13500

x=1068

Hence, money lent at 8% = Rs 1,068
Money lent at 7% = Rs (1,776 - 1,068) = Rs 708
