Poonam borrowed a sum of Rs 1,680 into two parts one at 9% and the other at 6%. If the total annual income is Rs 126, find the money she borrowed at each rate.

Validate

Solution:

Let the sum borrowed at 9 % be Rs x and that at 6% be Rs (1,680 - x).

∴[{x×9×1}/100]+[{(1680-x)×6×1}/ 100]=126

{9x}/100+{10,080-6x}/100=126

3x+ 10,080 12,600

3 x=2,520

x = 840

∴ Money lent at 8% = Rs 840 and money lent at6% = Rs (1,680 - 840) = Rs 840
