A sum of money is to be distributed among P, Q, R and S in the proportion of 8 : 7 : 6 : 5. If R gets Rs 1,500 more than S, then what is P’s share?

Solution:

Let the share of P, Q, R and S be Rs 8x, Rs 7x, Rs 6x and Rs 5x respectively.
Then,

6x- 5x= 1,500

x = 1,500

∴ P’s share = Rs 8x = 8 × 1,500 = Rs 12,000
