The student in three classes are in the ratio 4 : 7 : 9. If the product of their total strength is 6,804, then find the total number of students.

Solution:

Let the number of students be x.
Then 4x × 7x × 9x = 6,804

252 x^3 = 6,804

x^3 = 27

∴ x = 3

Number of students in three classes

= 4x,7x ,9x

= 4(3), 7(3), 9(3)

= 12, 21, 27

∴ Total number of students = 60
