In a class, the number of girls is 20% more than that of the boys. The strength of the class is 770. If 5 more girls are admitted to the class, the ratio of the number of boys to that of girls is:

Validate

Solution:

Let the number of boys be x.
So,

x+120/100x=77

x+6/5x=77

11x=77×5

x={77×5}/11=35

∴ Number of girls = 77 - 35 = 42
∴ New ratio = 35 : (42 + 5) = 35 : 47
