The ratio of number of boys to the number of girls studying in Jaypee school is 29 : 35. The total number of students studying in the school is 448. If 28 boys and 28 girls are admitted in the school, what will be the new ratio of boys and girls studying in the school?

Validate

Solution:

Let the number of boys be 29x.
and girls be 35x.
Then, 29x + 35x = 448
64x = 448
x = 7
∴ New ratio

={29x+28}/{35x+28}

={29×7+28}/{35×7+28}=11/13

Hence, new ratio of number of boys and girls is 11 : 13.
