The ratio of number of male teachers and female teachers in a college is 5 : 6. If the percentage increase in the number of male teachers and female teachers are 25% and 15% respectively, what will be the new ratio?

Solution:

Let the number of male teachers be 5x and female teachers be 6x.
The increased number

125/100×5x

and

115/100×6x

∴ Required ratio

=(125/100×5x) : (115/100×6x)

= 125x : 138x

= 125 : 138
