In a mixture of 60 litres, the ratio of milk and water is 2 : 1. If the ratio is to be 1 : 2, then the quantityof water to be further added is:

Solution:

The amount of milk

=2/3× 60 = 40 l

The amount of water

= 1/3× 60 = 20 l

Let the

water required for ratio 1 : 2.
Then,

40/{20+x}=1/ 2

⇒ 20 + x = 80

∴ x = 60 l
