Solution:

x/y=7/4

4x = 7y

∴x=7/4y

So,

{12+7y}/{12+3y}={12(7/4y)+7y}/{12(7/4y)+3y}

={21y+7y}/{21y+3y}={28y}/{24y}=7/6
