One month payment $=\frac{500+\mathit{x}}{12}$
Amount got by the servant after 10 months $=\left(\frac{500+\mathit{x}}{12}\right)\times 10=\mathrm{Rs}350+\mathrm{shirt}$
According to the statement,
$\left(\frac{500+\mathit{x}}{12}\right)\times 10=350+\mathit{x}$
$5,000+10\mathit{x}=4,200+12\mathit{x}$
$5,000-4,200=12\mathit{x}-10\mathit{x}$
$800=2\mathit{x}$
$\mathit{x}=400$
∴ the price of shirt is Rs 400.
