Kumar's salary was decreased by 50% and subsequently increased by 50%. How much per cent does he lose?

Solution:

Let present salary of Kumar = Rs. 100
Hence his decreased salary = Rs. 50
Again, his increased salary =

50 + 50 /100 × 50

= Rs. 75
Hence, he loses in his salary = 100 – 75 = Rs. 25
Since, loss percentage = 25%
