The cost of a table is twice that of a chair and the cost of the chair is 15% less than that of a stool. If the cost of each type of furniture increases by 20%, then the increase in the cost percentage of 5 tables, 6 chairs and 4 stools is:

Let the cost of stool = Rs x
The cost of a chair = 85% of x

=85/100x

The cost of a table

=2(85/100x)=85/50x

Now, the total cost of 5 tables, 6 chairs and 4 stools

=5(85/50x)+6×85/100x+4×x

=1760/100x

Increased cost

=1760/100x×120/100=2112/500x

Hence, the required percentage

={2112/500x}/{1760/100x}×100%

={2112/500 } ×{100/1760 }×100%=24%
