There are 1,550 employees in an organization, out of which 30% are females. If the monthly salary of one female is Rs 15,000 and that of one male is Rs 17,000, what is the value of 20% of the total salary of 5 females and 3 males?

Validate

Solution:

Number of females = 30% of 1,550

=30/100×1,550=465

So, number of males = 1,550 - 465 = 1,085
Monthly salary of one female = Rs 15,000
So, monthly salary of 5 females = Rs (15,000 × 5) = Rs 75,000
Monthly salary of one male = Rs 17,000
So, monthly salary of 3 males = Rs (17,000 × 3) = Rs 51,000
Hence, their salaries taken together = (17,000 + 51,000) = Rs 68,000
So, the required percentage

=20/100×68,000

= Rs 13,600
