Let the total profit be Rs x.
Then, Puneet’s share = Rs $\frac{2}{3}\mathit{x}$
Sumeet’s share = Rs $\frac{\mathit{x}}{4}$
Madhav’s share = Rs 12,000
According to the question,
$\mathit{x}=\frac{2}{3}\mathit{x}+\frac{\mathit{x}}{4}+12000$
$\mathit{x}=\frac{11}{12}\mathit{x}+12000$
$\mathit{x}=1,44,000$
So, Puneet’s share $=\frac{2}{3}\mathit{x}=\frac{2}{3}\times 1,44,000$ $=96000$
Sumeet’s share $\frac{\mathit{x}}{4}=\frac{144000}{4}=36000$
∴ Sumeet received Rs (96,000 - 36,000) less than Puneet = Rs 60,000
