Solution:

Let the total profit be Rs x
Then, Pratap’s share

=2/5x+5/12(x-2/5x)

∴2/5x+5/12(3/5x)=585

2/5x+3/12x=585

24x+ 15x= 585× 60

39x=585×60

x={585×60}/39

= 900
Thus, Mihir’s share in the profit = 900 - 585 = Rs 315
