I started a business with a capital of Rs 28,000. Three months later, my sister, Poonam joined me with a capital of Rs 27,000. The total profit earned at the end of the year was Rs 9,650. What is my sister’s share?

Solution:

My capital for one year = Rs (28,000 × 12) = Rs 3,36,000
Poonam’s capital for one year = Rs (27,000 × 9) = Rs 2,43,000
∴ Ratio of our capital = 3,36,000 : 2,43,000 = 112 : 81
Hence, Poonam’s share

=81/193 × 9,650

= Rs 4,050
