The sum of two numbers is 25 and the difference of their square is 75. Find the difference between the numbers.

Solution:

Let two numbers are a and b
Given, a + b = 25
and

a^2 - b^2 = 75

∴ (a + b) (a - b) = 75

⇒(a-b)=75/(a+b)=75/25=3.
