It took 15 h and 40 minutes for Rakesh to paint four walls and the ceiling of a room of size 900 cu ft. The ceiling height of the room is 10 ft. If Rakesh painted at a constant rate of 0.5 sq. ft/minute, how long will it take for him to paint the walls?

Validate

Solution:

Area painted in 1 minute = 0.5 sq ft
Area painted in 15h and 40 minutes = 470 sq ft
So, the dimension of the room will be (10 × 10 × 10) cu ft.
∴ Area of 4 walls = 380 sq ft
Time taken to paint 4 walls =

{380}/{0.5}

= 12 hour 40 minutes.
