The perimeter of the front wheel of a two wheeler is 6 feet and that of the back wheel is 9 feet. To travel a distance X, the front wheel makes 10 revolutions more than the back wheel. The value of X (in feet) is___.

Solution:

Number of revolution taken by back wheel = y revolutions.
Number of revolution taken by back front wheel
= y + 10 revolutions
Perimeter of the back wheel = 9 (y)
Perimeter of the front wheel = 6 (y + 10)
⇒ 9y = 6y + 60
9y − 6y = 60
3y = 60
y =

{60}/3

= 20
Distance covered = x = 9 (y) = 9 (20) = 180
