Find the circumference of the front wheel of a cart if the ratio of revolutions taken by the front wheel and the rear wheel is 5 : 6 and circumference of the rear wheel is 34 m. The cart is constantly moving at the rate of 1.7 m/s for 20 minutes.

Solution:

Distance covered by cart = 1.7 × 20 × 60 = 2,040 m
Revolutions taken by the rear wheel =

{2040}/{34}

= 60
Let total revolutions of both the wheels = x

6/{11} x

= 60
x =

{60×11}/{6}

x = 110
So revolutions taken by the front wheel =

5/{11} × 110

= 50 revolutions
