area = 480 sq. cm.
$\frac{1}{2}$ (a + b) × h = 480 $\mathit{c}{\mathit{m}}^2$
$\frac{1}{2}$ (2x + 3x) 12 = 480
$\frac{5\mathit{x}}{2}$ = $\frac{480}{12}$
5x = $\frac{480}{12}\times 2$
5x = 80
x = $\frac{80}{5}$ = 16
The length of the longer parallel sides = 3x
= 3 × 16 = 48 cm.
