The L.C.M. of two numbers is 45 times their H.C.F. If the sum of the L.C.M. and the H.C.F. of these two numbers is 1150 and one of the numbers is 125, then the other number is

Solution:

LCM of the two numbers = 45 × HCF
and LCM + HCF = 1150
⇒ 45 × HCF + HCF = 1150
⇒ HCF(45 + 1) = 1150
⇒ HCF

= 1150/46 = 25

∴ LCM = 45 × 25 = 1125
∵ 1st number × 2nd number = LCM × HCF
∴ 125 × 2nd number = 1125 × 25
∴ 2nd number

={1125×25}/125=225
