An aeroplane when flying at a height of 3,125 m from the ground passes vertically below another plane at an instant when the angles of elevation of the two planes from the same point on the ground are 30° and 60° respectively. The distance between the two planes at that instant is:

Validate

Solution:

In Δ BCD,

3125/y=\tan30°=1/√3

⇒y=3125√3

......(i)
In ΔABC,

{3125+x}/y=\tan60°

Using (i) we get,

{3125+x}/{3125√3}=√3

3,125 + x = 3,125 × 2

x = 6,250
