Divide Rs 990 into 3 parts in such a way that half of the first part, one-third of the second part and one-fifth of the third part are equal.

Solution:

Let x be the number.

1/2x=1/3x=1/5x=1

2x=3x=5x

According to the statement,

2x+3x+5x=990

10x=990⇒x=99

First number

=2x=99×2=198

Second number

=3x=3×99=297

Third number

=5x=5×99=495
