What is the amount invested in Scheme ‘B’?
Statements:
I. The amounts invested in ‘A’ and ‘B’ are in the ratio of 2 : 3 respectively.
II. Amount invested in Scheme ‘A’ is 40% of the total amount invested.
III. Amount invested in Scheme ‘A’ is Rs 45,000.

Validate

Solution:

Using Statements I and III:
Ratio of amount invested by A and B is 2x : 3x.
Amount invested by A = Rs 45,000
2x = 45,000
x = Rs 22,500
Amount invested by B = 3x = 3 × 22,500 = Rs 67,500
Using Statements II and III:
Let the total amount invested by A and B together = x
Amount invested by A = 40% of x
40% of x = 45,000

40/100×x=4,50,000

x = Rs 1,12,500
Investment by B = 1,12,500 − 45,000 = Rs 67,500
Hence, the solution can be derived by using Statements III alone and either by Statement I or Statement II.
