The three positive numbers a, b, c are in GP.
The first number is 5. Find the sum of these three numbers?
I. All the numbers are odd.
II. The third number is four times the first number.

Validate

Solution:

Statement I does not give any definite answer.
Since a, b and c are in GP and a = 5; b = ar;

c = ar^2

.
Therefore, as per Statement II, we have c = 4a → a

r^2

/a = 4 →

r ^2

= 4 → r = ±2. But, r = −2 is not possible. So, all numbers are positive.
