The average age of 10 men is increased by 4 years when two of them whose ages are 31 years and 33 years are replaced by two new men. Find the average ages of the two new men.

Solution:

Total age increased = (10 × 4) years = 40 years
Sum of ages of two new men = (31 + 33 + 40) years = 104 years
∴ Average age of two new men

= 104/2

years = 52 years.
