In John's opinion, his weight is greater than 65 kg but less than 72 kg. His brother does not agree with John and he thinks that John's weight is greater than 60 kg but less than 70 kg. His mother's view is that his weight cannot be greater than 68 kg. If all of them are correct in their estimation, What is the average of different probable weights of John?

Solution:

In Ist case : 65 < x < 72
In IInd case : 60 < x < 70
In IIIrd case : x < 68
From the above three cases, we get, 65 < x < 68
Hence, x may be either 66 or 67 kg.
Then, required average

={66+67}/2=133/2

= 66.5 kg
