The arithmetic mean of 65 numbers is 45 and a total of 7 was added to each number. Find out the mean of the new numbers.

Solution:

Sum of 65 numbers = 65 × 45 = 2,925
Total increase = (65 × 7) = 455
Increased sum = (2,925 + 455) = 3,380
∴ Increased average

= {3,380}/65= 52
