Solution:

Total salary of 14 officers = 50,000 × 14 = Rs 7,00,000
Let the number of clerks = x
Total salary of clerks = Rs 6,600x
∴ Number of clerks

={7,00,000+ 6,600x }/{14+x}=7,000

⇒ 7,00,000 + 6,600x = 7,000 (14 + x)
70,000 + 6,000x = 98,000 + 7,000x
7,000x - 6,600x = 70,000 - 98,000
400x = 60,200
x = 1,505
