The average of seven numbers is 18. If one of the numbers is 17 and if it is replaced by 31, then the average becomes:

Solution:

Average of seven numbers = 18
Sum of seven numbers = 18 × 7 = 126
One number 17 is replaced by 31
So, 31 - 17 = 14
New sum of seven numbers = 126 + 14 = 140
Average

=140/7=20
