Solution:

Actual area of the square =

x^2 cm^2

Measuring area of the square =

(1.02 x)^2

= 1.0404

x^2 cm^2

Their difference = 1.0404

x^2 – x^2

= 0.0404

x^2

Hence, required percentage =

{0.0404x^2}/x^2 × 100

= 4.04 %
