The difference of the areas of two squares having different length of sides is 32

. Find the length of the side of greater square, if one is longer than other by 2 cm.

Solution:

Here,

(x + 2)^2 – x^2

= 32
⇒ 4x + 4 = 32
∴ x =

{28}/4

= 7 cm
Hence, length of the side of the greater square = 7 + 2 = 9 cm.
